    Stochastic travelling wave solution of the N-species cooperative systems with multiplicative noise

    The current paper is devoted to the stochastic N-species cooperative system with a moderately strong noise. By the theory of monotone random systems and the technique of suitable marker of wavefront, the existence of the travelling wave solution is established. By applying the Feynman-Kac formula and sup-sub solution technique, the upper and lower bounded of the asymptotic wave speed are also obtained. Finally, we give an example for stochastic 3-species cooperative systems

    Using noble gases to trace groundwater evolution and assess helium accumulation in Weihe Basin, central China

    The severe shortage of helium resources is an impending global problem. However, the helium accumulation processes and conditions favorable for helium enrichment in reservoirs remain poorly understood, which makes helium exploration challenging. Noble gases are good tracers of subsurface fluids provenance, migration and storage, as well as indicators of the nature and quantity of associated phases. In this study the variation of major gases and noble gases data in Weihe Basin provide us with an excellent opportunity to understand the groundwater evolution and helium accumulation processes. Twelve gas samples collected from wellheads of geothermal wells can be classified into three groups, in which Group A has high concentrations of N2 (58.57% - 91.66%) and He (0.32% - 2.94%); Group B has high contents of CH4 (52.94% and 69.50%) and low concentrations of He (0.057% and 0.062%); Group C has a high content of CH4 (71.70%) and He (2.11%). Helium isotopic ratios are predominantly radiogenic in origin and therefore crustally derived. Measured elemental ratios of noble gases are compared with multiple fractionation models for Group A and B samples, implying that open system heavy oil-water fractionation with excess heavy noble gases has occurred in the basin with Voil/Vwater ratios of 0.06-0.18. The amount of helium in Group A and B samples requires the release of all 4He produced in the crust since 0.30Ma-1.98Ma into the groundwater. The Group C sample requires an additional He flux from adjacent granitic bodies. The accumulation of helium and hydrocarbon in the Weihe Basin can be explained by a 4-stage process. Accumulation of commercially viable helium requires high He flux from source rocks, the existence of a free gas phase of major gas components (CH4 in most cases, N2 or CO2) and minimal major gas addition after formation of the free gas phase

    Quantum Computing for MIMO Beam Selection Problem: Model and Optical Experimental Solution

    Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) has gained widespread popularity in recent years due to its ability to increase data rates, improve signal quality, and provide better coverage in challenging environments. In this paper, we investigate the MIMO beam selection (MBS) problem, which is proven to be NP-hard and computationally intractable. To deal with this problem, quantum computing that can provide faster and more efficient solutions to large-scale combinatorial optimization is considered. MBS is formulated in a quadratic unbounded binary optimization form and solved with Coherent Ising Machine (CIM) physical machine. We compare the performance of our solution with two classic heuristics, simulated annealing and Tabu search. The results demonstrate an average performance improvement by a factor of 261.23 and 20.6, respectively, which shows that CIM-based solution performs significantly better in terms of selecting the optimal subset of beams. This work shows great promise for practical 5G operation and promotes the application of quantum computing in solving computationally hard problems in communication.Comment: Accepted by IEEE Globecom 202

    Epidemiological and virological characteristics of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) 2009 in school outbreaks in China

    Background: During the 2009 pandemic influenza H1N1 (2009) virus (pH1N1) outbreak, school students were at an increased risk of infection by the pH1N1 virus. However, the estimation of the attack rate showed significant variability. Methods: Two school outbreaks were investigated in this study. A questionnaire was designed to collect information by interview. Throat samples were collected from all the subjects in this study 6 times and sero samples 3 times to confirm the infection and to determine viral shedding. Data analysis was performed using the software STATA 9.0. Findings: The attack rate of the pH1N1 outbreak was 58.3% for the primary school, and 52.9% for the middle school. The asymptomatic infection rates of the two schools were 35.8% and 37.6% respectively. Peak virus shedding occurred on the day of ARI symptoms onset, followed by a steady decrease over subsequent days (p = 0.026). No difference was found either in viral shedding or HI titer between the symptomatic and the asymptomatic infectious groups. Conclusions: School children were found to be at a high risk of infection by the novel virus. This may be because of a heightened risk of transmission owing to increased mixing at boarding school, or a lack of immunity owing to socioeconomic status. We conclude that asymptomatically infectious cases may play an important role in transmission of the pH1N1 virus

    Vectorial structure of a hard-edged-diffracted four-petal Gaussian beam in the far field

    Based on the vector angular spectrum method and the stationary phase method and the fact that a circular aperture function can be expanded into a finite sum of complex Gaussian functions, the analytical vectorial structure of a four-petal Gaussian beam (FPGB) diffracted by a circular aperture is derived in the far field. The energy flux distributions and the diffraction effect introduced by the aperture are studied and illustrated graphically. Moreover, the influence of the f-parameter and the truncation parameter on the nonparaxiality is demonstrated in detail. In addition, the analytical formulas obtained in this paper can degenerate into un-apertured case when the truncation parameter tends to infinity. This work is beneficial to strengthen the understanding of vectorial properties of the FPGB diffracted by a circular aperture
